On 12 May 2008, an earthquake with 8.0 magnitude hit sichuan province in China. As of May 31, 68,977 people were killed, 367,854 injured, and 17,974 missed. This is the biggest earthquake in China since 1976.


I feel deeply sorry to the people who passed away in this earthquake and the people who lost their families and friends in this very sad earthquake.

Answer:
These days, many companies pursuit organizational excellence in order to achieve high profitability and everlasting growth, resulting in a wide variety of organizational structures being adopted. In terms of classification of employees, it's also said that there's a wide variety of structure model at present.

In the early stage of history of corporation, highly structured organization model was adopted at many companies. There were apparent benefits including a simple chain of command and clear roles and responsibilities. As development of corporate strategies and rapid environmental changes like globalism proceed, however, many companies started adopting flat organizational structure or other advanced structure models like a matrix or project organizational structure.

I agree that flat organizational structure can quickly cope with the changes of business environment or new competitive situations, but I insist that there should be clear classification represented by ranks and salary grades.

Flat organizational structure is good for communication among employees. For instance, one of my client companies got rid of classified grade and promoted flat communication among its employees. They interact each other as equivalent colleagues, and this seemed superficially good at a normal situation.

I mean, however, if something unusual happens, such as a compliant violation or an incident causing its consumers hurt, a clear chain of command and clear roles and responsibilities are required to respond such situations, which is also tantamount to classification of ranks and grades.

Who can take a responsibility of a serious incident that possibly cause the person fired if nobody is at a higher position than others? Who can make a final decision amid great controversy if nobody has power to force others to follow his decision? Therefore, I insist that companies need to have clear grades and ranks to the extent of the level I mentioned above.

In summary, corporations move forward to the era of flat organizational structure, but to some extent corporations need to keep clear ranks and grades in order to respond to various events.

Answer:
Since there are several jumps of logic, the argument doesn't reach the level of convincing people that the proposition will be a good choice for the company.

First, the argument states the correlation between the time when the company had only one location and the fact that the company made good profits at the time, but the correlation cannot be proved in a logical manner. It means that the argument doesn't prove that the profits came from the fact that the company had only one location. Therefore, one can also say that the company generated the profits only because external environment like economic boom contributed to the profitability at the time.

Second, more importantly, although the argument reaches a conclusion that the company will consolidate its branch offices into one location in order to achieve higher profitability and better management carried off by concentrated supervision, but this causal correlation, which is between the action and the result, is not logical enough to make the argument persuasive. It means that even if the company gained high profitability through having only one location, the situation surrounding the company now would be different from one at the time, resulting in the situation that the action will bring a wrong effect like a decrease of its sales.

If the argument has the logical explanations to solve the jumps of logic mentioned above, it will be persuasive enough to convince all stakeholders to agree on and follow the decision. However, if the jumps of logic cannot be wiped out, the conclusion that the argument proposes has a serious flaw that might aggravate the company's condition.

It's dangerous to state that only if all countries must keep in step altogether, a nation cannot take any action proceeding with natural resource conservation. As a typical example, although this is in terms of greenhouse gas emission, United States of America has been rejecting to ratify the Kyoto Protocol signed in 1997 on the grounds of the inequality in its participants. United States insists that it's unfair that China and India have no obligation of reducing greenhouse gas emission. However, how sad the result from this attitude will be!

I believe that a nation and its people willingly step forward to save the earth even if other countries hesitate to do that. It's getting clearer as time goes that natural resources have been diminishing and eventually will vanish! Especially fossil fuel is in the line of exhaustion, resulting in record high gas oil prices recently observed. We face literally the fierce urgency of now.

International leadership and worldwide cooperation are vitally important, but they come to realize only if the respective nations commit themselves and take concrete actions. Therefore, I'd like to emphasize that an individual action comes first and world cooperation comes second. We need to bear in mind that every single step can change the world.

This argument contains two clearly illogical elements: ignorance of difference between color firm processing and frozen food processing, and leap of logic in relationship between performance and experience.

First, although the argument cites an improvement in color firm processing as an example of a result of continuous improvement, this example is not enough to prove the effect. Since the improvement might have been brought by a technological invention, not by the experience that the industry had gained, this example can't strengthen the argument.

Second, the argument simply connects age of the company with performance, which is reduced costs in this context, that the company achieves. If this logic were true, all companies in the world would decrease their costs and make profits. However, the fact is different. For instance, as time goes, unexpected issues rise in front of companies and they deteriorate their success in spite of the fact that the companies have been gaining experience. Since experience is merely a part of its performance, the argument is illogical.

The argument needs a better example and a more logical explanation as mentioned above. By exemplifying continuous improvement citing a clear example and strengthening the statement adding some explanations of the profit the company will gain, the argument becomes clearer and more convincing.

Answer:
I know both types of the country; the United States of America is a typical example for a country whose government has almost no censorship; China, conversely, is a typical example for a country whose government has strict censorship on its media. After explaining and demonstrating both types of censorship using these two countries as the examples, I'll state my conclusion on this issue, which is that government should minimize its censorship to a reasonable extent.

The United States of America found on democracy and liberty. Its people have been enjoying freedom and equality, although there were clear exceptions such as slavery and racial discrimination. I often watch their television program ranging from political news to sitcom. When watching the TV, I always feel in this country there's no taboo or prohibition. For example, at a TV drama named "Friends", people talk about gay or surrogate pregnancy in a light-hearted way. There's a fundamental environment in the country to express anything even considered taboo in other countries.

On the other hand, the United States of America has a problem stemming from its censorship policy. It's too free. For instance, sex and violence are everywhere in the country, and this fact surely affects its people's behaviour. As a tragic example, school shooting at Columbine High School happened years ago in the country can be considered the result of this no censorship policy. We can easily imagine the criminals spent their lives watching violent movies and TV programs, which affected their mental attitude. This is a negative aspect of the country's censorship policy.

I traveled to China two years ago. Although I knew there was censorship in the country even before traveling there, I found a lot of clear evidences that the government exacted censorship and the effects of the censorship through the trip. First of all, I was surprised at the fact that there are nearly no sex and violent materials, as I visited one of bookstores in Beijing. There was no pornography in the shelf at all; on the contrary, in Japan, my country, there are many porno magazines at almost all convenience stores that exist more than 10,000 nationwide. I saw the fact a good aspect of censorship generally thought as a bad system.

I believe, however, that censorship by government clearly has a dangerous aspect that might suppress its people's freedom of expression. Furthermore, there's a possibility of educating its people in a wrong direction. For example, a string of turmoil relating Tibet happened before China Olympic clearly showed us the serious effects of censorship. I couldn't believe why Chinese people strongly believed their justice on Tibet affairs, before I realized that the attitude came from their education the government imposed to them with limited and skew information about its incursion to Tibet after the World War II. This is a serious damage of censorship for its nation.

As a conclusion, except for some areas where censorship are clearly required such as child porn and racial discrimination, I think that government should not censor on its media and should think freedom of expression a vital right of people in this contemporary era, in which people can live for their happiness through knowing the truth of the world.

The young man enrolled a school named School of School, after getting into a land called Land of Land. He seemed satisfied with the school, mainly because he ran into modest, diligent people and quickly immersed himself in the learning environment.

Time passed rapidly. The young man rapidly gained great wisdom that human beings had gained. He tried to learn what he wanted to learn the way the wise learned what they had learned. The way was neither more nor less than a clear way for him. He mused, "The time has come."

At a night, when trees rung, and breeze blew, he finally realized the truth of the world. He at lease could say this, "There are what there is and what there is not." This thunderous idea caught him and consigned him to the world of everlasting contemplation.

But he should have admitted a fact that he encountered another philosophy. The philosophy forced him to be silent than ever before. The young man was a man. And the man met a young woman.

news - Political Mess on Provisional Gas Tax

I'll report a turmoil that happened in Japan.

From March to late April, political disorder caused Japanese people to be furious against their government. Its provisional gas tax expired at the end of March, and then gas prices in Japan went down around 30 yen a liter. Although the nationals enjoyed this windfall profits, it wouldn't last so long.

At the end of April, a new gas tax was introduced, and the gas prices went up steeply around the original prices. People got furious, and their trusts to government collapsed to the ever-worst extent.

The root cause of this matter was a lack of leadership of the ruling party, LDP, and the prime minister, Yasuo Fukuda, as well as namely twisted power structure, which is that LDP dominates in the lower house while the opposition party, DPJ, dominates in the upper house.

I, who always see Barack Obama, who has a new kind of leadership, and dynamic American politics, feel deep disappointment in this situation, and hope that new politics will emerge in the near future even in this country presumably considered a developing country in terms of politics.

If we can say that school should be a place where students learn, there's no reason that we use the same amount of money into sports activities as libraries at universities. It's because library is a place where students learn, whereas sports activity is just supplement for their studies.

Fist of all, library provides a perfect place where the students can learn. They can read and research a wide variety of books and materials, which they can't take advantage of anywhere other than library. Therefore, universities should invest their funds in their libraries.

Needless to say, sports activities are also important for students learning at universities. A maxim says, "A health mind fits a health body." Agreeing on this, I also agree that universities should invest their money in sports activities. However, it should be to some extent. It means sports activities should not be a major part of school lives compared to studying or other learning activities.

As a conclusion, I'd like to say again that universities should not invest their funds in sports activities at the same amount of investment in their libraries, if they think the places are primarily for studying, not for playing.

As years passed, the man became a boy. The boy had two arms and two legs. He was almost a monkey. Because he looked like a monkey. But one day he realized that he was human. He shouted, "I am a man! The time has come!" That was his first remark toward the world where he was born.

Years passed further. The boy became a young man. He started learning new things with unbelievable speed. Then he thought of the situation in which he was, "What's happening on me? What's hope we can have?" Then he started reasoning with astonishing speed. "Yes. There's hope. That is what hope is." He felt he got satisfied gradually.

I'll report the status of the presidential election in the United States.

The race starts with the elections for deciding party's nominee. As of now, there are two major partied in America, The Republican Party and The Democratic Party. The election in 2008 started this January in Iowa. The winner of the Republican Party was Mike Hackabee, the Democratic Party Barack Obama.

As the election goes on, John McCain had won most delegates on the Republican side. On the Democratic side, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, the former first lady, had vied tightly for nomination. As of May 3rd, the result are still unclear.

This election's points of controversy are ranging from Iraqi war to its stark economic situation. Especially, economic issue is getting more important in this election and for the candidates, since economy of USA slumped due to namely subprime mortgage crisis.


This is a report on American presidential election with my linguistic limitation.

blog - My Plan For Building Vocabulary

This is my plan for building my vocabulary that sustains me in speaking and writing English. I've been feeling it's very tough to pull words from my inner brain and speak out them fluently. But there's nothing impossible in the world as you know. So, let's scrutinize my plan.

1. Writing essay every day. (ongoing)

Since last month, I've been writing essays on this blog by using TOEFL material. This will eventually get reward in proportion to the hard work. Besides, the function of spell check on this Blogger is really helpful to notify me of the mistake if any.


2. Writing anything from a news to a story.

I'm sure that I need to do something else other than what I'm doing now in order to bring a wide variety of vocabulary from my memory. I mean there are tons of words I've never used in reality even though I know them. Especially, I've never used high-level words as we can see on newspaper, or light, conversational words as we can see in novels. So I decided to write news and stories myself. Don't you think this is a good idea?


3. Reading tons of books and newspaper. (ongoing)

Needless to say, getting new words into the brain is critical to expand its vocabulary. These days, I read newspaper and books checking a dictionary everyday. This will contribute to deepen my inner vocabulary, and one day they will be brought out from the storage.

Answer:
I totally agree on the idea that success depends on hard work, not luck. Whereas luck has influence on relatively small matters, hard work makes big achievement possible.

The first reason why I stress the importance of hard work is that I believe hard work can go beyond influence of luck. Several years ago, I took a exam for getting a certification regarding business consultancy. The percentage of passing the exam was around just three percent, and the coverage was wide-ranging. So, the applicants cannot hope a good result without hard work. Since I was convinced about it strongly, I spent much time to study the wide variety of the subjects. As a result, it seemed like the hard work was rewarded.

The second reason why I stress the importance of hard work is that I believe that luck can be increased by adequate preparation. Needless to say, luck exists everywhere in this world. You might be able to win one million dollars at a lottery, or you might be elected as a president of United States by accident. However, from my experience, we can control the luck with sufficient preparation. I invested my money in stocks. At the stock market, people can rely on luck, but intelligent investors relies on their knowledge and preparation coming from hard work, not luck. Thanks to this attitude, I could make decent fortune at the market.

In summary, I believe that big successes come from hard work, not from luck. This belief stems from my experience and principle. Hard work easily overpasses luck and can bring a great success to ones who believe the value of hard work.

Answer:
I definitely prefer to live in a small town despite the disadvantages like the inconvenience to commute or the lack of fancy departments. The main reasons for that lie in the following factors: quietness, good relationship with local people, and the reasonable costs to live.

First of all, I don't like hustle and bustle of a big city. There are a lot of cars and people generating noisy sound disturbing my private life. Second, I think that smaller the town to live is, deeper the relationship with the local residents is. Third, I'm convinced that required costs to live in a small town is much more reasonable than do in a big city. For instance, house rent dramatically goes down as the size of city goes down. Moreover, food costs are reasonable while the ones of a big city are sometimes unbelievable.

To sum up, I surely choose to live in a small town rather than living in a big city, although there are some disadvantages. Especially quietness is critically important to me when choosing the place to live.

Moreover, television provides communication space to people. A family can gather in front of TV and have same time with them. For example, a news from TV may make the family gather in front of TV and make them talk with each other, resulting in better communication.

Needless to say, spending too much time to watch TV brings negative effects. Or if family concentrates on TV too much, the family doesn't have any conversation among them. Therefore, people need to keep in mind that television is not a perfect media.

As a whole, television has been playing a vital role in communication in this contemporary era. Although there are several setbacks, television can contribute to people in terms of making them communicate with each other through the existence.

Last week, when having a lesson with my teacher, I suddenly noticed that I was in an "English mode". At the time, I thought in English yet in Japanese, and the speaking was very fluent, that like I never experienced.

I found some reasons soon. First, before the start of the lesson, I spent much time at the cafe to force myself to think in English. And this was very successful. Second, at the preparatory period, I thought of the best way of how to produce English in my own way, taking notes about my forms and patterns that I desired to use.

And today, I found other important factors to conjure the English brain effectively and efficiently. First the preparation period should be more than one hour. If the time is below this threshold, it doesn't work properly. Second, as expected, the proper environment is critically important to think in English. I mean, more silent around you, the better.


An English learner should think in English, if he wants to speak English fluently.

However, inviting a factory to the town has a lot of benefits that the residents can enjoy. First, we can pick out financial benefits. The factory might bring a huge amount of taxes to the local government. The factory might also bring jobs to the town, resulting in the huge wage that the workers can take at the factory.

Second, the factory can sustain long-standing prosperity in the community. If the factory goes well, people will gather around the factory as workers, their families, and business people who sell products to them them. They will live around the factory, get married, and make children. The town will achieve prosperity according to the lives.

In summary, the factory itself has disadvantages, like pollution or heavy traffic. However, whereas the people can curb the disadvantages by demanding emission control to the factory or expanding the traffic capacity, inviting a factory can bring invaluable merits to the community, like financial benefits and long term prosperity. Needless to say, both of theory and practice are necessary to make a progress on human beings. Only theory makes nonsense, and only practice cannot make advance. So, in a proper fashion, people need to weave both theory and practice at the time they learn something they want to master. But in face of this question, I must answer that experience is much more important than knowledge from books.

The first reason why I think so is that experience stems from one's own characteristic. Experience from the person's deep emotion is quite valuable for the person's growth. For instance, I can learn about love from book, but the time I truly recognize love is when I feel love with someone actually. So, experience can teach people what we cannot get from books.

The second reason why I think experience is more important than books is that experience can bring significant images to the person taking the experience. Of course, books can also bring the same kind of stimulation to the person reading the book, but the magnitude is pretty much different. For instance, touching fire or drowning in the sea bring a real sense to the man, whereas knowledge from books brings a little stimulation to the man.

Knowledge from books, however, promote significant merits to people. People can learn what they cannot experience only by themselves. People can learn some framework or theory that many scholars have studied for many years. So, as I mentioned earlier, people need to weave both of them at a proper timing and in a proper manner. That's a key point to make a big advance on the life.

In summary, experience from actual lives bring remarkable advantages to people. I think that the most important thing is to weave both of experience and theory from book, but I'd like to insist that experience is much more precious than knowledge from books because of the uniqueness and the reality. Those make experience pretty much precious for human beings.

One of the reasons why parents can be the best is that they know their children the best by their natures. blog - About THE New Stage

As I wrote on my Japanese blog, I found out my new era in the Business Area. I've been struggling for a long time thinking of how to advance my career. I have a technical insight, so I can be a great software architect. I also have a good managerial faculty, so I can also be a great project manager. Again I have a good business analysis ability, so I can even be a good business consultant.

I've been spiraling between the choices. But the time is closing to make a decision. The time is closing to boost my breakthrough by narrowing my choices. In my twenties, the strategy was almost right. I got broad knowledge and insights. It was a preparation to make a big leap toward a higher stake.

The time has come. Throughout two weeks experience on my new project, and various, a lot of underplots, I finally got an insight to determine my future career. Finally. That is, my speciality is literally to be able to do anything. And continuous concentration on improving my performance has deepened that areas. I can even speak English. "High level work" is waiting for me. I should be in charge of that kind of work. Now is the time to really take a high step toward that goal.


For this to realize, I will complete my last unfinished business.

6. Do hand grip (40kg) 60 times a day
7. Do air hand grip in a bath 300 times a day


In addition to mentioned above, I'd like to start the following activities to ensure the accomplish at the end of April:

8. 35 push-ups with a single hand a day
9. 30 arm curls (15kg) a day
10. Back muscle exercise


There's not an impossible thing human beings think they can do.

blog - Learning English (Newspaper & Books)

Recently I spend much time on reading a newspaper or books. Needless to say, that's for enriching my English proficiency, but also for getting news or knowledge from the materials. I finished "The Audacity of Hope" by Barack Obama, a masterpiece, several days ago. And I started reading "A Dream from My Father" also by Barack Obama to know him more and more. Although there are a lot of difficult words, I can read it without a dictionary.

There are two types of book. On the one hand, a book to read it thoroughly with a dictionary and writing down the must-learn expressions on a notebook. On the other hand, a book to read through it quickly in order to get insight from the book at a maximum in a shorter time. The both are really important for me now.

I check an English-language newspaper everyday. Reading it, I use a dictionary and a highlight pen to mark must-memorize words in order to try to memorize again and again for months after the time. This is also enormously useful to input vocabulary into my brain. Now I can read a hard to read book, "A Dream from My Father", without a dictionary in a bath.


People started advancing their lives with a pen and a note in history. I should learn from it.

blog - Progress: Three Focal Areas: 5/13 Week

It started last week to work for a new client in Shibuya. The project is to restructure global IT infrastructure service model through streamlining the vendors it uses. The headquarters is located in Europe, so I'm fairly in a global project using English everyday. But, I caught cold in the mid of the week, so I couldn't wield my full power in the last half of the week.

About rock-climbing, I feel power emerging. People enjoy their lives through feeling their growths like a child. Yeah, like a child, I enjoy rock-climbing, and my life. I do pull-ups at home more than 100 times a day, and rock-climbing at a gym more than three times a week, leading to a physical culmination I've never felt.

About learning English, I'm convinced that if I continue doing the tasks I imposed on myself, I will end up getting desired targets at the end of April: Speaking English like a person who has learned English abroad around four years. After this, I will take an exam in June, which is a last challenge in this area.

blog - Regarding Business Area

I set one of the targets in Business Area for gaining further qualifications of ITIL, which is a framework for IT infrastructure maintenance projects. You know, I've gotten one of the qualifications, ITIL Foundation, obviously the entrance exam, last month.

That exam itself is pretty easy for real IT practitioners. But the framework itself is highly great for all IT practitioners, although I don't need to say this again. You know, I'm now working on a global IT infrastructure restructuring project in one of major pharmaceutical companies. It's of course including software or services, as well as hardware, networking devices.

There are four or five qualification on ITIL. So my aim is to get all these qualification during my tenure on this project. A true professional should harness his chance at a maximum, as Caeser once harnessed something to do something.


Again, my endeavor will never finish until the world is over.

blog - Progress: Three Focal Areas: 4/13 Week

I've set my three focal areas as the following at the start of February: English, Rock-climbing, and Business. And I've tracked the progress on a weekly basis, writing them on the blog. So far, the status is not bad, which means I'm doing well so as to accomplish my targets in the areas.

Anyway, let me start reviewing this week's status on the respective areas.

1. English
Terrible. Especially, reading newspaper at least 3 pages everyday, one of my tasks in this area, couldn't be done properly. It's because first I've been too focusing on a rock-climbing area, and I fell in a certain situation I've never experienced ever. That was a kind of apathy syndrome. Although describing the reason I can figure out later in this blog, due to this syndrome, I can't see any progress on this area. But, at the same time, I see this as a preparatory period in order to make a bigger jump from next week.

2. Rock-climbing
Seems good. I went to a rock-gym on Wednesday and Thursday, Isara. Almost I was able to climb up a second grade problem. Um.. I'll get it done next week for sure. I vow it. On Saturday, with friends I went to Mitake, a famous rock area, to raise my climbing level to much higher. Although I couldn't get Ninja-gaeshi, a first grade problem, I was convinced that I would do that in the near future.

3. Business
My first intention to set this area as one of three focal areas for the three months was to make a plan to launch my own business in the near future. But one day I noticed that I was not ready for that yet. That was too bad, but I should have accepted the fact. After that, I set the target to accomplish shorter targets, like winning a certain training nominee, or passing a job interview. Looking back at it from now, that was a right choice. But, as mentioned earlier in this topic, I suddenly fell in a pitfall. According to my analysis, that was due to the fact that I would need to engage in a project I'd ever desired over time.

The project is a IT infrastructure project again. Further more, that's not a project of my company. That's a project I will engage in by myself from my company. It means I can't experience Offshore development model that I'm supposed to do at this company. That's out of my projection. That's away my aim. But now, I've accepted the fact naturally as a new kind of challenges. I can experience a truly global project rather than merely India-Japan projects. I can experience a new industry I've never worked for, which is a pharmaceutical industry.


So, again, the time has come!

blog - The Judgement Day has passed!

I was supposed to take an interview in English for a new position involved in an EAI project last Monday. But the chance had passed by me without bringing any effects on me. In short, the interview was held only in Japanese, and the position was not for EAI, which is for me the most exciting area.

I was disappointed at the fact that my challenge or turning point had passed. I was supposed to make a big deal or get extraordinarily disappointed at my current English ability. Both are really welcome for me, because any change can bring to me great growth.

But today, I got a new challenge. The company offered another interview which will be held in English tomorrow. Oh my god! Oh my godness! Thanks God! The time has come! My English will be tested in the real situation. My endeavor from three years ago will be judged whether the time is meaningful or not.


The day will come!

The time is closing that Obama becomes the President of the United States of America. I'm 99% sure that that will surely happen. 0.5% is that Hillary will defeat Obama in Ohio and Texas, and the other 0.5% is that Obama will be defeated by MaCain in December, but the both are unrealistic as of now.

The world would start considering what will happen when Obama will be the president of the most powerful country of the world. The world would start anticipating how the world will change by the fact that the ever most thoughtful person will be at the most powerful position influencing the world.

I'm excited about this. I've already started envisioning the world after the time will have come. I've already been ready for the change in the area of investment, life planning, and a new kind of politics.

blog - Judgement Day has come!

I'm not sure what I should do one day before the Judgement Day. At the day, I will be tested whether I have a proper language skill to work on a global project. I will be tested whether my direction to the goal is right or not. I'm fired up, or I'm scared up. :-)

I've done what I should do. I've started reading a great book, "Enterprise Integration Patterns". I've prepared scripts titled "Let me introduce myself". I've focused on improving my English skills this weekend and sharped my body and brain with a strict attitude.

Tonight, I had better get the bed early rather than stay up late to prepare more. Generally speaking, the previous night needs to be calm and quiet enough. Anyway, I'm doing my best so as to see the person. I'm doing my best continuously from now on in order to make my dream realize.

blog - Blunder in investment

I made a mistake. I should have sold my stocks at the time, but I couldn't. More worse, I justified myself after that, saying that was under a plan. Looking back from now, that was not just a blunder, but a very critical moment at which I became a mediocre investor from a wise investor.

I should have sold my Chinese stocks at that time not one third, but more than two third. This will cost me not only more than 10 million in fact, but also more than 30 million in potential. So, I need recover the damage in an enthusiastic way. Well, road to a wise investor again.

blog - I'll have an interview next week

Yeah, I'll have an interview next week to get a position of a Japanese engineer on a certain project in my company. That was weird to me at first in a sense of being needed to have an interview to work on a normal project. But it's natural, when a buyer is stronger than a seller. Um...too bad.

Anyway, I will have to have an interview session after a long time. The previous ones were held at the time I looked for a job last year. I'm a plan-driven person, then let me plan for that. To be honest, I've already prepared for that since last week like by writing "let me indrocude myself" stories.

By the way, it's exciting to have an interview in English. I will be able to try my English ability in a formal situation. It's frightening too, because if I fail to get the job done, it will disappoint me seriously in a sense that I'm not ready for the level, as well as that I won't achieve my goal in the Business area.

In the Business area, as I wrote the story in my Japanese blog, my target has been settle to enroll a management curriculum in US which is sponsored by my company. And for this to be realized, I need to accomplish two bussiness achievements including the thing mentioned above.

"Think different" is a catch copy of Apple. Now I say this: "think Big". Drinking a grande soy latte at a Starbucks Coffee today, I was thinking what I am, what I should do from now, and what I can do in my life. People say "anything is possible", or "if you desire, the dream will come for sure". Okay.

I thought I had a dream, or I was a man who could set the dream and could proceed toward that with a strong determination. Okay. Partly right, but partly wrong. There's possibility that I misunderstood what the dream was. Yes, I had a dream, but was that true? Was that real one that the person can achieve in his life? There should be concrete paths and realistic milestones.

"Think big" is a wonderful slogan, of course, to make the dream big and make the life big. But there should be supplement to make it sure. There should be key points to make it really happened. That's an absense of my dream. That's a shortcoming of my planning.

So, I need to make a concrete plan to proceed on my way step by step. Leveraging my strengthes and experiences, I must put clear goals and milestones into the schedule. I'm a stragegist. I'm a practitioner. I'm a man who thinks big. (You know I understand this sentence is wrong in grammar.)

I've noticed that I needed to concentrate on what I should do more and more. That's not enough currently. Look at Obama. Look at men who have achieved something they want. For instance, what I've done for this three years is just studying English, changing a job, and getting old. I became 33 years old yesterday! What an age! What in the hell am I!

But since I noticed, I cannot help but try to do, do my best, and focus on what I should do. My youth has gone, but so what? In Japan, I cannot find a right person these days who will bring a right politics to the nation. But if people desire to change, a change agent will definitely come. Sometimes people need to introduce themselves to public, friends, and interviewers. The most effective way to make a good speech is to prepare it in much advance as much as possible. "Be prepared" is a golden word for everyone. So, let me do the same for my future use!

I'm from the company working as a project manager. I have more than 10 year experience in this industry as a programmer, systems engineer, and project manager. At the previous company, my technical area hinges on Windows technologies, like the OS, C#, or SQL Server. But after joining the current company, I uses UNIX and Java technologies in the field of enterprise application.

In addition to technical aspects, I have a broad range skill set, like project management and business analisys ability. As evidented by my qualifications, I never stopped learning a new thing, and challenging a new thing. For instance, recently I've had a lot of opportunities to talk with Indian people, and I found some day that I needed to learn their culture and history in order to make the communication better. So I started reading books written about their culture and history. In fact, that made sense.

Regarding English, I've also never stopped learning it. Starting to study it three years ago at a time I noticed the significant importance and finished another learning, I got a desired score on a English test and still now I'm learning it at a daily basis. In a sense, I like studying.

My charcteristics are proactive, hardworking, and intelligent. I go to the customer, rather than the customer comes to me. I'm hardworking at the same time I know when hardworking is necessary. I'm intelligent in the sense of predicting the future with deductive and inductive thought, or with logical and intuitive senses.


Next, I'd like to talk about projects I engaged in ever.

I found some day that it was useful to read books in the different fields, like information technology, psychology, rock-climbing, and so on. Doing so, I can get different type of words and expressions. That makes sense in enriching my vocabulary and my speaking skill. And so I've started reading various books intentionally.

From a book written about information technology, I can get words in the industry and I can use them at the office with Indian colleagues. From a book written about psychology, I can get words that I can use when describing my life and the world. From a book written about rock-climbing, I can get words that I can use when describing dairy lives and motions of my body.

That's a key to enriching my English ability. That's a key to accomplishing a higher goal. That's a key to knowing the world better, and making the life better and more wonderful. And so I've got this place and determined to walk on this road.

It's already decided what I will do in the next month in the Business Area. That's what I couldn't do here in Fukuoka due to a constraint of place, and what I've been thinking to want to do in the very near future. That's needed to make my goal a reality. That's needed for me to proceed to the next step with strong confidence.

I will build my system at home. Concretely speaking, I will procure servers that will be infrastructure of my new systems, and I will develop my systems that will make the world better. That's an ambitious task and goal. But I have to do. But I must go on. After that, I will first judge my vision and my possibility to make my dream realize. The challenge has come closely.

For that, I've prepared. To do that, I've studied and experienced technical and practical things. If I cannot do the thing actually, I will have to admit my defeat. I will be a loser. However, I've already known that dream will be realized if the man have strong determination and strong enthusiasm. I've already known that if the man put his efforts on the right place, the goal can't help but come!

Again, I want to make a plan for getting a level of a Master of English. After getting 950 points on TOEIC, in a sense, I've been losing my direction. I've had no clear goals, no clear objectives, and no clear light to lead me to the next level. Although I'm putting my efforts on this area more than 3 hours a day, I'm supposed to be greater than current "me".

blog - New Four Books in Investment Area

According to my new year's resolution, I bought 4 books in economic and investment area. The titles are as below:

1. The Truth of Structural Reform - The Dairy of Minister Takenaka Heizo.
2. The Coming Collapse of the Dollar and How To Profit From It.
3. Hubbert's Peak - The Impending World Oil Shortage.
4. India 2020 - A Vision for the New Millennium.

(Note: All are written or translated in Japanese, since I needed to grasp the content so quickly.)


I've already finished reading "The Truth of Structural Reform" written by a former Minister Takenaka Heizo of Koizumi Cabinet. I found out that if he had not been there, the revolution couldn't have happened. Prime Minister Koizumi and he played two major roles for the stage of the extraordinary revamp in Japan. He was not only a person responsible to Japan's economic side but also a person who could change the whole political processes that had made Japan stuck at all. This is am amazing book.

The next book, "The Coming Collapse of the Dollar and How to Profit from it", was a little disappointing. The destiny of dollar is well mentioned, but it seems like the writer has his own unfair opinion to gold. So, I quickly read the book today.

The oil one; I thought I needed to read this kind of book as a person who lives in the 21st century. The 21st century would be a century of fossil fuel and global warming. We human beings need to address these huge, catastrophic destiny in the century. So, I needed to read this book. At the same time, as a philosophic investor, I would make a difference in this area.

India one; I needed to know well about India and its economical future. Being an employee at an Indian company, I will take close eyes onto this subject. Also, as a worldwide investor, this country will be one of the most appropriate countries where I will put my money.


After these four books, I will add next four books into my book shelf.

I've just finished reading the tremendously great book, "The Art of Loving", written by Enrich Fromm in 1956. I feel the necessity to write down the key points about love, and loving. There are surprisingly clear theories and convincingly concrete practices of love.

Now is the time that America has to settle the direction. If the people choose Hillary Clinton or other normal politicians, America will continue to be normal or getting destructive. On the other hand, if they choose Barack Obama, a real change agent, America will rise up from the darkness.

Seeing various news on this issue, I'm getting to dislike Hillary Clinton and her supporters more and more. They have a lot of negative campaigns to Barack Obama, while Barack Obama insists his own value. But, I believe American people and their conscience. I believe that they will elect a proper person for their president. That has a huge impact on the whole world.

blog - Bood bye, Great Youngster!

One Indian guy left Japan for India this week. The guy is a brilliant and amazing man. He is definitely one of the smartest Indian guys I've ever seen. As well as he has good knowledge, he also has a good communication skill. He can effectively communicate even with Japanese who cannot speak English well. I asked him the knack. His answer: improving and adjusting the way of communicating. That's absolutely right.

He is planning to enroll a graduate school in Germany and be major in robotics. He graduated an Indian university of Information Technology, but he is eager to learn another scientific area. He would be a great scientist or launch his own business in future. And, we will meet again in the near future.

Generally, Indian people are friendly and modest, although in some situation they can be talkative and selfish, and arrogant. They will conquer this industry in not far future. And I feel necessity to communicate with them and fight with them. By the way, an intelligent Indian guy is really intelligent as he is.

blog - Motsu-Nabe

I went to a famous restaurant of Motsu-Nabe (Fukuoka's hot pot) I've been yearning for ever. Uploading the picture, the hot pot was amazingly delicious! I nearly lost my consciousness with the wonderful cow's innards.

All scheduled tasks are over. I had five dates, three casual parties and two something drinks. Beauties in Fukuoka certainly fascinated me. The women were certainly beautiful and cute. But, it seems like there were not a destined woman. I'm continually pursuing the indispensable piece of my life.

Anyway, dishes in Fukuoka were generally good, not bad. Especially hot pots and noodles are much more brilliant than other areas, like Tokyo. I will never forget this fact. I will never forget the memory of this spot. I will never forget the encounters with beautiful girls and the sequence.


Every planned task has been done.

blog - What remaining

There are remaining things that I couldn't do in the period. So, I need to focus on the following things:

1. Write a paper about this project.
2. Have a meeting with the management of the customer.
3. Leave intimate after my leaving.


First, as I swore, I would need to write a paper about this kind of project, which is a maintenance and also huge project. I will gather a lot of opinions from various stakeholders in order to make it more valuable. Summarizing my this three months, I need to harness it to the future success of me and Japan. Because I'm a professional project manager. Because I'm a person who is eager to grasp anything to be a transforming person.

Second, I decided to set a meeting with the customer. As I mentioned earlier that there are two great leaders in the client's company, I will need to have a conversation with them about lessons learnt we can take back into. I want to be a partner some day again with this client, since the size of the system of the client is huge and the kind of the project which is suppose to need our kind of service provider. So, I will make a chance that we will make a deal with the client one day.

Third, although I suffered from unexpected incidents in Fukuoka here, as a whole I can say that the period in Fukuoka was very good for me. I've learned a new concept of love, I've gained a new kind of knowledge I've never gained ever, and I've achieved a new level of knowing English. And so I thank the project and the opportunity I got to be involved with this project. I was too happy.


My time has been accomplished.

blog - Surprising.. My back pain has gone!

As I described before, my right back hurts seriously. The cause, I guess, is mainly by rock-climbing, and due to my non-flexible back. Since I cannot quit this fascinating sport, I decided to do back stretching rigorously. Especially, from the beginning of the year I've spent more than one hour a day to stretch my back at night and in the bed.

Surprising! I found out that my back didn't hurt any more one day. The cause making this happen is clear; The pain has been caused by non-flexibility as well as the distortion. I found out one day before this surprising thing happened that my left back and leg was firmer than right ones. Since my right side back had pain, I had mostly stretched my right side back and leg. That's was partly right, but the pain emerged from the distortion too.

The solution was right. I had been going in the right way. One of my worries for my body has been solved almost completely. Then, I will just rigorously stretch my back and legs and just rigorously exercise to maximize my physical power.

blog - Ten-Year-Plan in Business

I have a dream that one day I will have my own company and conduct the operation with my friends with a great joyous happiness. I have a dream that one day I will be able to tell many youngsters about the faith and dignity of the life citing my experience and my challenges. I have a dream that one day I will stand on in front of the people who listen to me expecting a humorous and meaningful talk.

I will launch my own business in the near future. Also, even if it's not ready for that, I will do that at least in my thirties. I'm willing to fail, with pleasure. This doesn't mean I'm just masochistic or something. I just want to challenge my life and my destiny. I just want to take the experience into myself as a precious life event. I just want not to regret in the future not by doing this. And I also say this; Even if there's a failure, the experience will bring me more valuable assets.

So, now is the time to prepare seriously for the challenge. Now is the time to make real my dream I've been walking with. The business would be IT related business, like a software vendor or a consultant firm. For that, I'm now eager to gain various skills and experiences by working on various projects. As well as software, infrastructure skills and insights are preferable to go with in the future. I'll never give up. I'll never turn back.


The challenge has already begun.

It seems like the life in Fukuoka will end. The contract with customer will end at the end of January. And there's no possibility that our successive company will fail and ask us again to remain here more. So, feeling sadness, I have to go.

The life of Fukuoka was brilliant. The encounters with various people were invaluable. The work here made me more valuable in the sense that I got new skills and new perspective. It's so sad to leave this place, but I have to go. And there will be new challenge in the place I'll head for. That's waiting for me.

One concern is that I will meet a girl this Friday and have Motsu-nabe at a famous restaurant. That's a promise since last year. She is a nice person and a beautiful woman. I'd like to see her again and have a fruitful conversation with her. One clear thing; I will give her an iPod I won at a party last year.


What I won here should be given again here. That's a philosophy.

The new month has started. The new life has started. One who has determined that he would do what he said in New Year holidays has to do the same in his daily life. Action is more desirable than thought. I was born in Eastern world, so I'm with paradoxical philosophy.

Anyway, I'll list up what I'm doing and I'll do in this month:

1. Chin-up 50 times a day
2. Stretching more than 1 hour a day, in the morning and evening
3. Writing blog in English
4. Speaking out in front of video
5. Reading newspaper aloud in the morning more than 1 page checking uncertain words with a dictionary
6. Reading a book in the bath
7. Climbing up and down the stairs of the office till 18 floors more than 2 times a day
8. Read a book using a dictionary and a notebook in the lunch time
9. Reciting "I have a dream" on the bus and at the time stretching
10. Start reading IT related books in order to prepare for the goal in the Business area


Hey, me. Please make sure that you surely do the things above EVERYDAY. Only by strictly following faith and determination, people can achieve their goals. Make sure that the dream will happen. Make sure that change will come to you. Make sure that one day you will be relax with your family and you will enjoy your own life.

blog - The Audacity of Hope

I'm now reading a book, "The Audacity of Hope". Of course, Barack Obama wrote this book. And I'm reading parallel this book and "The Art of Loving". The former I read mainly in the bath. The latter I read at a Starbucks checking the dictionary.

This book has tons of difficult words and highly complicated background of US political world, so it's hard to read throughout without a dictionary. But, this book has more than 300 pages, and I want to finish this book as early as possible because the election has already started, so I don't use a dictionary at the time I read this book.

It's preferable to have several different kinds of type to read books. Some time I read it much carefully, getting the expression, learning new words. Another time I read it much faster, grasping the content, being familiar with the level of difficulty. Since I've just started, I cannot say a clear message. Nevertheless, I can say this: This is a great book.


I'm getting familiar with him and his stage.

blog - Great Victory For America, the World

I'm an enthusiast for Barack Obama, a candidate for American President. Today, he won the first caucus in Iowa at this election. And he did a great speech after his victory was clear. I think I'm happy to hear a great speech like this at real time. I think I'm happy to have a great politician like him at real time in spite of the fact that he is in a different country.

I hope America will continue to choose him at the successive elections. I hope America will choose him as the President of the United States of America. I hope he will be a president of the country and will make a difference in a revolutionary way. I hope America will rise up and live out the true meaning of politics under his regime.

The world is waiting for him. The world is waiting for truth, waiting for dignity, waiting for change making the world better. Although I'm Japanese and I a little envy American people in the sense of having the real leader, I hope this will surely happen. He is the first man to make real ideal democracy since JFK. I know this. I knew this.


The time is starting.
